2021 4th of July Menu

Happy Independence Day weekend! Who is ready for a three-day weekend that involves celebrating, grilling out, soaking up the sun on or off the water, and sharing memories/laughs with your family and friends? ME!! However, as fun as this holiday can be, I know for some it may come with anxious feelings surrounding food. Holidays can be tricky with the pressure of being around others, the temptation of certain foods that others bring, etc. Your question may be how to avoid the sweets, potato salad, and chips? My recommendation is to PREPARE and PLAN.

Prepare to say no to the individuals that offer you a bite of their “award winning” cookies. You do not have to explain to them why you do not want to eat the cookie, even if they think you do. Just a simple “No thank you” is the only explanation that anyone needs regarding your choices. Just feel pressured into disclosing any more than you would like too.  Also, I would prepare to take a few side dish items to your cookout that way you feel like you have options. Typically, a cookout has plenty of protein options, but not many non-starchy side dishes. Bringing 1-2 items provided you with a little variety rather than just eating the meat that comes off of the grill. If you are unsure what to take, do not worry because that is where this delicious 4th of July Menu comes in…
