Corning council to discuss food truck event location – Red Bluff Daily News

CORNING — The City Council will discuss Tuesday whether the city’s food truck event should move to a new location.

The event has been held on Solano Street between Fourth and Sixth streets. Based on the council’s suggestion, the city’s staff has planned to hold at least one more food truck event in a city park.

Staff has experienced issues with gauging how many vendors had signed up for the event. Over the course of one week, four vendors have either canceled or failed to show up. This has led staff to look at moving the event to a new location, possibly one of the city’s parks.

Staff will ask the council to pay off the city’s pension side fund debt early, saving the city more than $16,000 in interest. The city is in good financial condition to pay off this debt early with more than $2.4 million in general fund reserves.

The appropriation being asked for is $650,126.67.

Tuesday’s meeting will be in person at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in City Council chambers, 794 Third St. Meetings are free and open to the public.
