Food & drink news: Pronto gets a refresh | Holiday pierogi on the menu | Roseville burger business closes

One of Royal Oak’s most popular hangout spots is going to start its 30th year in business with a new look.

Pronto Restaurant, Lounge & Showbar, formerly Pronto! Restaurant & Video Bar, will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 6 p.m. Nov. 24 to commemorate the business’ 30th anniversary and interior renovations completed by Five15 Media, Mojo, and More, which purchased the business in summer 2020. The move marked the second time in seven years the business has been sold.

New owners Gary Baglio, Five15 founder and owner, and Bill Zipp have put $450,000 into the renovations, according to Baglio, on top of purchasing the business for $275,000. Pronto employs 50 staffers and 20 contract workers, Baglio said.

Customers will see major changes to the restaurant’s interior and a new menu that features dishes made fresh from scratch, including a Mile High Chicken Pot Pie, Steak Tips Stroganoff and a Hudson’s Maurice Salad.

The venue — in 10,000 square feet at 600 and 608 Washington St. — features live entertainment, weekly DJ sessions and a weekly trivia night.
