GLASGOW Ky.-With thanksgiving on the minds of many, some students of a local high school came up with an idea to make sure families have plenty of food this holiday season.

For this reason, student ambassadors at Glasgow High School are sponsoring a non-perishable food drive. This can be anything from soup, canned vegetables, and even sweets just to name a few.

This drive started Monday and will go on through November 16. The collected items will be delivered the Wednesday before thanksgiving. The items will go to families of students at Glasgow High.

There is a sweet incentive for the first period class that brings in the most items. 21st century community learning center site coordinator Terry Smith says he’s confident that students will donate, and he’s proud to support the students when they have ideas like this.

“We’re using the buckets from cardio drumming that we use for the afterschool program, and we’re holding a competition to see who can raise the most items. whoever brings in the most items will win an ice cream party. We’re very thankful, we really want to support them and their ideas,” Smith said.

The containers will be in every first period class for students to drop off these items.
