Holiday food items given out to folks in Bessemer area

The Salvation Army of Greater Birmingham held its annual food drive today at the Bessemer Service Center.According to a news release, 125 holiday boxes were given out.Those boxes included turkey or ham, holiday vegetables, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, sliced potatoes, mixed fruit, cake mix, rice, and sweet potatoes.“The Salvation Army of Greater Birmingham is committed to combating hunger and food insecurity in our communities. The holidays are no different, and we are going to always meet the needs of our neighbors,” says area commander, Major Robert Lyle. In addition to the holiday boxes, 50 food bags with canned and other dry goods were also distributed.
