Coming Up 

There will be a Rhodium Cocktail Dinner with three courses paired with three craft drinks made with the artisanal spirit at the the Rooftop at the Providence G, 100 Dorrance St., Providence, (401) 632-4904, on Thursday, April 22 at 6 p.m. The cost is $65 and there is complimentary valet parking. A Kentucky Derby event for May 1, from 5 to 8 p.m., is set for the Ballroom at the Providence G,100 Dorrance St., Providence. The race will be live streamed while cocktails and hors d’ouevres will be served. There will be live entertainment and prizes for the best dressed woman, man and couple, sponsored by Woodford Reserve and High Limb Cider. The cost is $40.00 which includes plated hors d’ouevres and a Woodford Reserve Mint Julep in a keepsake mug. The 2021 winning poutine from Adeline’s Speakeasy Kitchen Bar.


After a month of tasting and more than 300 portions, the winners of the fifth annual Poutine Indulgence & Competition were crowned Sunday. For the fourth year in a row Adeline’s Speakeasy Kitchen Bar, 2352 Mendon Rd., Cumberland, took home the top prize. Two first-time competitors tied for runner-up: KG Kitchen Bar, 771 Hope St., Providence and Ming’s Asian Street Food truck at The contest for the best dish of French-Canadian comfort food of French fries and cheese curds smothered in gravy in Rhode Island was run by The Museum of Work & Culture in Woonsocket with passports to take out from seven restaurants. The winner was announcedduring the Museum’s Virtual Salute to Spring~Bonjour Printemps Facebook Live on Sunday. 

Virtual cooking classes 

The Cumberland Public Library is offering new cooking class episodes featuring Lynne Daigneault. She’s offering recipes made in her kitchen on the library’s YouTube channel at and new episodes are released every other Tuesday.  Salmon with Kale & Apple Salad releases Tuesday, April 13. Zucchini Lasagna Roll Ups releases Tuesday, April 27.

On the menu 

Stoneacre is honoring one of Newport’s Daffy Days when the city is adorned with 1.2 million daffodils. Stoneacre Garden, 151 Swinburne Row, Newport, features the Passion Project, fusing white rum, passionfruit, ginger and lime. Stoneacre Brasserie,  28 Washington Square, Newport, (401) 619-7810,, is offering the fiery Golden Smog featuring mezcal, yellow chartreuse and spiced pineapple. Both drinks cost $14.
